At least it's done with flair and wit and is not just an Adobe illustrator tracing.
One has artistic merit - shame on you 'Mac Guru' for being so dim.

DIM????
How mature. Who are you sir, to declare that the artist that made those desktops has no artistic merit?
Honestly, even if they did do something that simple, it still has artistic merit even if you don't 'approve' it.

In the past 4 years - I've probably seen almost 400 portfolios
of peeps doing exactly the same thing - three quarters of 'em were
of the fairer sex - fire up illustrator or freehand draw a few random
shapes - realize you don't have any talent for drawing or worse any ideas
and then start tracing a photo.
With the most advanced brain power this planet has ever graced
- you would expect more originality from 21st century computer artists.
I may have been rude and that's why you jumped on me - and that's fair
- But I thought he was letting himself down by spending so short a time
on the most creative part of his art - he brings nothing of himself to it
- just a series of computer art cliches - and this is what really gets
to me - absolutely no humor.

Truth be told, tracing a photo DOES qualify as art, in MANY cases. Now, whether or not it's done PROPERLY, and WELL, does not make the work any less qualified as Art. It may 'suck a big sausage' as a member so eloquently put it... but it IS art.
Now, on to the desktop pics.... AGAIN.

You do have a point, if the artist took the photos too though it's more of an art then. It does take some skill to use illustrator though.

Wasn't happy with my other color scheme, so now I'm running my purple DSX mod and I've changed the hue of all my favorite desktops and have it randomly change them every 5 min. I still have the one I posted before but in a purple hue now .

I think the new Max theme is the coolest
one around at the moment, sure it is
sort of gray but not so boring as all those
other subdued themes, and it has cool
color variants. And brushed apps have
their own appearance.
I like it

I'm really fussy when it comes to the look of things, can't help it. I like a lot of the themes out there, and appreciatethe work that goes into them, but I don't think I've ever really kept one on for more than a few hours, except the Panther Pro one, and Swiz's SS one. it's funny though, cause Apple seem to have got it right, for me, and the default Aqua has always been just the thing I need, what I tend to do is take maybe some elements form other themes and put them into Aqua, such as the sunken widgets, adn buttons, I quite like that.
The other thing I did with Aqua, was too darken the toolbar lines slightly, I like the kind of newspaper, worn look of Aqua, it makes it feel used, you know what I mean?
Then there's Panther coming out, and surprise, suirpirse, I really like what Apple have done with the colour scheme, and the muted lines, I thought I'd hate to see them go, but I really like them.
Anyway, good on ye, all those themer dudes.
