Sorry, but I've e mailed this forum 1 billion times regarding an extremely annoying bug with the responding to posts, and never, never, never get a reply. Maybe someone here has some connections. thanks.

Describe the bug.

(This should be in the Lounge, or in Feedback, shouldn't it?)

For that many times, it probably a) caused the server to crash b) marked as spam.

How long does it take to send 1,000,000,000 e-mails anyway?

If your emails were as descriptive as this post, I'm shocked you haven't received help.

As mentioned, why isn't this in Feedback to begin with? Maybe all of your e-mails were mislabeled as well.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about this unless you never, never, never, never get a reply. Only then is it really a problem.

Ok, sorry, did not think about feedback or lounge, never go there. Here is the issue:

After I type of a reply to a thread, I hit submit reply.

The a message error comes up and says I must fill in the subject box.

Now, I don't get this on any of the other 30 forums I visit -- a message saying you must fill in the subject box upon replying to an already pre-existing thread.

It's not a good idea to fill in that subject box, because you can risk starting a new thread.

Am I clear? I have a workaround for this, it's a real nuisance.

I used to use Macfixit as my primary Mac forum. I've changed to Mannn because Fix it has a huge server problem. but at least I got promt repliies to problems quickly from moderators. wih ManNN, I e mail the contact at bottom and no one ever replies.

Please remember that the Mac OS X forum is NOT a catch-all for whatever you want to post!

As for your problem, I don't know what you're talking about. The software does not require a subject for replies to threads, because we don't even use subjects in replies (we only use a single subject for the whole thread).

If you are getting the error about it needing a subject, it's because you've pressed "Post New Topic" instead of "Post Reply".

P.S. I have no idea who [email protected] goes to.

Oh, that email. It's mine, so the report goes to me, and I file it under "complaints".

i haven't seen any email from you in admin. but i may have missed it.
i have never experienced this problem, since, as tooki said, we don't require that field.
is this only in a certain forum? what browser?

thanks Demonhood.

Yes I've sent several e mails to "[email protected]" and I never, ever get a response.

Basically, I select the button that says, "submit reply" and an message comes up that says you must enter a subject. that's it. It's an intermittent thing. Incredibly annoying. Maybe I'm the only one to have it.

Tookie was right.
I was a occasionally selecting the post new thread button instead of the post reply.

I guess you get excited when you are done writing and quickly scroll to bottom of page and click on the wrong button.

But now that I've admitted to being a moron, I can now also feature request:
why not have the reply button with a different design and a different location as other forums do?. Just an idea thanks.

I have thousands of replies under various (now abandoned) niks, and I have never mistaken 'new topic' with reply. Take the additional .02 seconds it takes to watch what you're doing. Attention to detail will aid you in life far more than on these boards.

thanks, that's brilliant advice. But I'm sure there are others who are making this same goof -- but have not spoken up. The buttons are the same color, size, and in same exact locations. that said, problem for me is solved.

Whoops! Wrong button.

Control-s in a shortcut to the "Submit Reply" button, not "Post Reply" graphic button. Sorry for the confusion.
