I have one of the original 5GB iPods and its battery is starting to go and there are other various problems with it as well. If I bring it to the Apple store for the 99$ battery replacement will they give my my same 5GB back? Will they give me a new 5GB? Will they give me a newer one?

I'm pretty sure they open it up and replace the battery. So you'd get your original one back. If you are having other problems with it, the battery replacement program isn't concerned with that.

Actually the other problems are dealt with in the battery replacement program.
