I have an external DVD burner but no program for viewing movies. What should I consider for this.
My specs:
G3 iBook 700
640 ram
20g HD
OS X 2.8
CD-Rom media drive
60g external firewire drive (OS X 3.1 bootable)

Thanks,
Henry

DVD Player should already be in your Applications folder.

If, for some reason, you deleted DVD Player and cannot get it back, you could also use the free VLC Player from www.videolan.org

Is VLC Player more robust than the built in DVD player? I find that DVD player tends to hang on slightly scratched disks which work flawlessly in other DVD players.

Cheers!

He has an iBook with a CD-only drive. I thought DVD player doesn't install automatically on hardware that doesn't have a built-in Apple DVD drive.

VLC is pretty robust, but I'm not a real expert to compare the technicalities of the two. Either way, VLC is free, so it's definitely worth trying out at least.

what about iDVD? my sister's ibook came with a combo drive and iDVD, but it didn't have a superdrive so she deleted it.
