Was wondering, since the Mac Mini has a socketted CPU, does the MacBook as well?

All that shows is that the mac mini is socketted.

AFAIK, no, the MacBook is not socketted, just like the Pro

I thought the Mini and Macbook shared the same logic board?

But IIRC, the MBPs also have a very similar logic board to the MBs (difference being graphics). The boards may all be similar, but not identical, as the form factors are different - MB logic board wont physically fit inside a mini, for example. Im actually now certain the MB is not socketted, as I remember seeing internal pics of the MBs

They don't. The chipset is similar, but the boards are different. Shape, size, RAM slots, connectors and their positions, etc. all different.

The MB and MBP have soldered CPUs. The iMac and mini have a socket. That's also why somebody has already succeeded at putting a Merom into a mini: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=298769

Hm well that's a bummer. But it's cool news for the iMac and Mini.

This Mini owner thought so.

Interesting pic series. Unfortunately the guy either has a really bad camera or he just doesn't know jack about taking close-ups.
