Sorry I Just had to post this thread so people wouldn't miss it

It's called FWB Partition Tool Kit. http://fwb.com/html/partition_toolkit.html

I've used it several times. This is the App we have all wanted for a while now.

This is a Mac OS 9 only app. ... erm.

System Requirements

System 9.1 or 9.2.x
(Does not support Classic under Mac OSX)
Power Macintosh G3 Blue & White CPU or Above
16 MB of free RAM
SCSI or IDE Hard disk
No Firewire or USB Drive Support
CDROM Drive if running off a bootable CD

Yes but if you create a bootable CD with OS9 you can partition it and the partition will work under OS X.

How does it work? I mean...do you have to make a boot CD or can you just reboot? I'm assuming you have to reboot either way for the changes to take effect.

I contacted FWB last year about an OS X version and they said it was to be released at MacWorld (January 2003). I'm still holding my breath...

You can create a bootable OS 9 CD or boot from a seperate partition and it will allow you to partition it.

I talked to a sales support there and he claimed the OSX version should be out soon.

I'll believe it when I see it. For now though anyone who wants/needs to do this can use this version. It's been a long while coming for us Mac users for a program like this. That is for sure

even more important for me: can I add my 2gig OS9 partition as soon as it is redundant to my existing OSX?? This tool does not seem to be capable of that...

We've been able to do this in OS X for ages. I even considered putting a GUI around it, but couldn't be bothered!! Besides, I'm assuming you'd need to defragment and optimise the volumes so as not to lose data. Anyway, the command you're after is pdisk

Type the following into the terminal to get an idea of how to use it - far too complicated to explain here!

Yeah. There already is a GUI. It's called Silver Lining. It's a program released by LaCie. Apparently (I've never tried) it can resize.

If pdisk in OS X is the same as it is in Linux, I never want to see it again! At first I thought fdisk was a little confusing, but once I used pdisk, fdisk was nothing!

Notes:
Base and length fields are blocks, which vary in size between media.
The name of a partition is descriptive text.

Commands are:
h print help
v print the version number and release date
l list device's map
L list all devices' maps
e edit device's map
r toggle readonly flag
a toggle abbreviate flag
p toggle physical flag
q quit the program
Top level command (? for help):

pdisk...one thing I will NEVER mess with when I have a perfectly good system and lots of work to do and no time to lose. Oh, also when I am short on painkillers.
