I just completed a disk image restore (from an external firewire drive). Upon boot, I now have alias folders for etc, tmp and var on my hard drive...same folder level as Applications, Library, System and Users.

How come? Or did I restore wrong?

Edit: Mac OS X version 10.4.10; MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Image created on one identical MacBook Pro. Used Disk Utility from install disc 1 to create disk image and to restore image.
