I've been trying to report a spam thread.

http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iph...transfer-ipod/

No matter how long I wait I always end up getting a message that I'll have to wait another 27 seconds to report that post.

Just looked over the vB settings that might affect this; everything looks normal.

The spammer is gone, I'll have to look into Reports tomorrow.

It's still broken, but now it's telling me to wait for 28 seconds.

Meanwhile there's some Q&A spam here
http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iph...0181/ipad-bag/

And a spam post here
http://forums.macnn.com/92/networkin...t/#post3941562

You guys need to fix this crap ASAP. Spam's piling up...

Your reporting privileges have been revoked due to excessive use

Yeah right. Because the mods are so keen on not having spam reported.

A few hours of digging narrowed down the problem but didn't produce a cause. To be continued tomorrow.

PMs continue to work just fine. How about we work around the report problem by just asking our usual Baker Street Irregulars to PM the forum mods about specific spam threads? We need to know what thread and what user, so give AT LEAST the title and the username of the spammer, or better a link to the the post.

(No, this is not a way to "start a fire under reader50." From my point of view, he now takes the code problem personally and will fix it ASAP.)

This is what I've been getting since yesterday when trying to start a new thread. Seems I can only reply to existing ones. :o

All mods could subscribe to this thread and members could post here. This would make it easier than managing PMs.

I'm glad it's fixed; my workaround using PMs would have been clunky-plus it would make collecting stats for the spam reporting contest much more difficult.
