Religulous

I'm not a Bill Maher fan, in fact I think he's kind of a tool, but this looks like it might be fun. I may actually have to see it at the theatre.
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

I think Bill works hard at being a gadfly. He's smart, opinionated, and a very good speaker, so even if you don't agree with him, it's possible to listen to him and not feel (personally) attacked. From what I've seen of this one, I think it should be an "eye opener" for a lot of people, particularly considering how little most Americans actually know about their OWN religious beliefs and doctrines, let alone other peoples'.

He's in the regular Lounge right now...being a pain rather than a gadfly.

"An annoying person, esp. someone who provokes others into action by criticism." For once, I'd have to agree with abe; you certainly can be a gadfly.

What is abe posting as in the regular Lounge?

Do you think that somebody would pay me to be a professional gadfly?

Looks pretty good.

I don't think Maher can be called a liberal. Regardless, this film will probably be shooting fish in a barrel.

He's left of center, and he loves the Dems much more than the GOP. Maybe "liberal" might be too strong a word but it's close enough for a simple-minded guy like me.

I was interviewed for a similar feature several years ago (though it wasn't hosted by a celebrity), they didn't use my clip because I "made too much sense" and my views weren't "controversial enough". It's tough being a Universalist.

Yes. I was listening to a very depressing radio debate where they had invited two people from 'opposite sides of the issue' who both very politely explained that they had a lot of common ground between them, and disagreed on fairly minor nuanced areas, which they each spelled out. The host seem most distressed that he couldn't get them to bait each other.
