Uh oh, another moderate Japanese earthquake, not too long after the one year anniversary of the mega-disaster.

Poor Japan. I can think of much better places for earthquakes to occur.

So I'm the only one who cares about the Japanese quakes today?

I researched, and it seems that it was a 6.8, 240 miles off the coast.

So nothing much happened on the mainland (luckily).

I'm not sure how 6.8 at 240 miles translates to local perceived magnitude, but it probably wasn't that much higher than what Japanese are generally used to happening fairly regularly.

Also, most of the users here are from the U.S. Do you expect massive response to a news story that isn't major in the middle of the night?

Sure why not? There were some users on, but they were stuck in the PWL seemingly.

No, but Japan has tens of earthquakes per day, and ones this large fairly often. It's not the biggest deal ever.

Two moderately large quakes large enough to trigger Tsunami warnings. It's not something that happens every day, even there. And it was big enough to make news on my currency trading platform news feed, so it got my attention.
