Hah...
I mean you spend few hundred million dollars on this thing, and you didn't think it through? Before the landing I was thinking what happens to the parachute and deflated airbags after the spirit has landed? Won't those get in the way? Now I have my answer. Haha... sorry.

The lander has alternate ramps for the Spirit to come down from.

No info about this on the JPL/NASA/Mars Rover web page. Some info from the 7th about the 'lift & tuck' procidure that where going to do but nothing about the results?
Why doesnt NASA post all the info from the daily brefing/press confrence on the site?
Or at least have it on NASA TV/Real Stream at the same time every day. When it's on at 9am PST I can't see it because I am still at work with no sound (5PM GMT) so I had started to watch the repeat which on at about Midnight GMT but for the past few days thay have has stuff from the ISS on at that time instead .
NASA should save the daily brefing as a seporate stream (like Apple does with the keynotes).

I bet NASA were happy that it landed intact; I don't think they ever expect it to last long, let alone get it back.

You know, it just occured to me why they named it the Beagle. I bet they were planning to make the announcement: Ladies and gentlemen, the Beagle has landed.
Too bad it crashed.

AKcrab,
Lighten up. I was just joking around. Of course I'm hoping this will be a successful mission. I know it's difficult to maneuver the Spirit because of the delay feedback and the limited amount of solar power. They are taking things slowly because a slight mishap will cost the US closed to $1 billion dollars wasted on the project.

I really hope they fix this though, things seemed to be going so well and it would be disappointing to say the least.
Not to mention there must be 5 billion dollars of Nasa junk piled up on Mars by now.
