I just copied and pasted the file name of the first TV show I could find, but most of my shows use the convention you posted.

Just tried Netflix on Boxee.

It's nice that I'm able to browse and view movies and shows not on my instant view queue.

I also just got an xbox 360 and tried out netflix on it. Wow, there's a big difference in quality and performance. Playing netflix instant view is so much better on my xbox 360. On boxee, it's slow and the quality sucks. I can't even pause in boxee. Guess it's still in alpha. Too bad I need to add movies to my instant view queue in order to view it on my xbox.

Can't view streaming HD from netflix on boxee, but I can with my xbox 360.

Hope the performance improves on the boxee for viewing netflix. Viewing HULU on boxee is pretty good.

Hulu has been forced to remove their content from boxee by content providers. Plex is reportedly already working on a plug-in.

Plex now has internet streaming content including Hulu. Bye bye boxee, it was nice knowing you.

What's to prevent boxee from replicating the effect? Ethics?

Yeah. They voluntarily removed access in the first place to try and have a good relationship with Hulu.

Hulu now has to convince their content providers that boxee (and other media center apps) are actually a good thing.

The downfall of boxee was how it could be installed on an TV. Hulu providers don't have a problem with you watching it on a computer, but if you are seen as circumventing cable they do.

I agree with the conclusion, though I'm not sold on the Apple TV part being the prime issue. Any media center program is pretty much centered on being used with a TV.

But yeah, Hulu on a TV, OMG!
I'm sure this move will solve the problem.

there's still advertising present if you watch Hulu on Boxee. they just need to accept that people want to watch tv this way. and they should adjust their rankings systems to account for streaming and downloads.

oh wait, that was common sense. we're talking about the entertainment industry. please discard.

...
This no longer works fyi. It was working for about 24 hours, but then Hulu changed the pid of their software, so this will be a back and forth battle for a while until Hulu settles into a common security.

The only thing I can figure is that the "content providers" don't want to lose control over how people watch content on the TV, and Boxee gets too close to the TV.

I think they know they can keep their numbers lower if people are stuck watching on their comps.

Boxee - Boxee Box by D-Link

HDMI
Optical Audio
RCA Stereo Audio
WiFi (802.11n)
Ethernet
2 USB Ports
SD Cart Slot
RF Remote
QWERTY Keyboard
And the rumor mill says it will be less than $200. Since the Atom-based PC I built has some trouble with Flash video, I can repurpose that in either my garage or a car and use this in the bedroom. I can't wait.

That's the first thing my co-worker brought up when I showed him.

It didn't REALLY have to be a box, did it?

Not just a box, but a box sinking into the ground so nothing can go on top of it.

Meh. I don't have anything stacked on top of my AppleTV, I won't need anything stacked on top of the Boxee Box that replaces it.
