His method did work (as hilariously cheap as it was) but I hate being told what to do when I'm trying to enjoy playing a video game.

I still can't believe it, 1 hour and 11 minutes later and I miss the achievement by a few hundred feet of ramp.

Yeah he was way too bossy about it. I'd have been more receptive if we'd been on a harder difficulty level, but I'm just trying to enjoy the game right now.

I'm curious: What was his method?

Incidentally, I still haven't finished that finale on expert. I always get murdered like sek just before I can escape.

Hide in a closet like a bunch of girls.

Again, that's fine for a harder difficulty, but we were on normal. God, you, I, a ringer, and sek's character on computer controlled idle made it past the end on Advanced.

What campaign?

I've pondering which would be the first I'd try it on, and No Mercy has the hardest finale, and Blood Harvest's finale, while manageable, has the cornfield of death to get past. I think the airport might be the way to go.

BTW, ::maroma:: sighting last night.

Sooo..I was supposed to visit a friend in Boston tonight but we're in for a bit of snow and I honestly don't want to wake up hungover tomorrow in a city with no way of getting out.

I'll probably still part-ay somewhere but I'll be back here at some point tonight...how about that No Mercy achievement?....preferably with non-bossy players this time.

If I die this time I swear I'm giving up.

I have a party tonight, but I'm pretty lukewarm on the New Years thing anymore. Depending what time I return home I may log on.

So yeah, I'm a maybe too.

Even though the cornfield is fiendish I wish it were bigger and more disorienting. I can picture that part as the hardest in the game on expert of you get swarmed at the right time.

Semi-agree. I think it'd be far more menacing if it was twice as wide and instead of a fast moving horde it was a just a bunch of zombies wandering around like in the hospital.

I haven't owned this many games for a console since the SNES days. So far I have:

Halo 3
Gears 1 & 2
Call of Duty 4 & 5
GTA IV
Madden 08
Left 4 Dead
Kameo
Virtua Tennis 3
Splinter Cell - Rouge Agent
Superman Returns

Oh and I still have Bioshock that I borrowed from a friend over a year ago. Haven't had time to play it yet. So many games... so little time.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

Agree completely, when we first happened across it I was like "Oh man, this is going to be silly hard" It was hard, but they kinda hold your hand with the width they decided to make the field.

Sorry about tonight guys, I had no idea how tanked my buddy was.

As for sek, congrats on finally beating No Mercy. All it took was me throwing two rounds to get it for you. At one point when I was firing my gun while incapacitated, I was seriously considering turning on my teammate just to guarantee you didn't get ****ed by a lone survivor.

haha, saint was hilarious, despite his propensity for pissing off the witch. I loved the first chapter we beat because saint only netted 4 kills the whole time.

...and yes folks, without trusty Dakar throwing the finale twice after I had died I would've never gotten my achievement. Even when I did end up finishing alive I got snagged by a smoker when I was already ON the helipad. Gah!

Looks like we redeemed ourselves, though it helps when half of the ass-kicking crew is on our team.

Also, way to rope me into another campaign, with the quick start.

I think we fully understand what a bitch beating a level on Expert is going to be now.

Also, I'd like to add, that vomiting on several survivors as the Boomer has to be one of the most satisfying things in this game, much like blowing somebody to chunky bits with the shotty in GoW2.

I love being the Boomer. One of my favorite things is meleeing downed survivors while your vomit is on cooldown, because he can't melee you away and odds are he or one of his buddies will shoot you. It's not the greatest strategy, but I just love inflicting that feeling of "****, what did I just do?" on people.

Yeah, it's an irritating exploit. But you can move them with explosives or precise whacking.

I have this on the old fashioned computer box as well, but I have to say its the most fun I've had with a FPS in a long time. I haven't even gotten in to an FPS in so long but Left 4 Dead has me totally hooked. Campaign on Normal is almost boringly easy, but I really love Versus mode and expect the challenge of Expert campaigns will keep me interested as well. Awesome game, highly recommend it to everyone.

Path for PC users it out, expected for 360 players in the next few week. Here's a list of the fixes. I've bolded the ones I think are key:
General
- Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only.
- Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players.
- Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch.
- Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises.
- Improved loading time.
- Fixed mini-gun physics exploit.
- Fixed propane tanks (and other physics objects) causing players to fall through elevators.
- Fixed rare achievement bug issues.
- Fixed several map exploits.
- Fixed various match making issues.
- Fixed NAT traversal issues.

Versus Changes
- Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players.
- Changed color of infected player name in chat to red.
- Fixed exploit where players could spawn infected bots
- Fixed instance where a Survivor changing to the infected team would be attacked by infected bots.
- Normalized special infected melee damage.
- Made the following client commands cheat protected: "Kill" and "explode".
- Fixed exploit where infected players could run away and teleport back to gain health.
- Players can only change teams once per map.
- Players can't change teams while other players are still loading.
- Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode.
- Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route.
- Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch.
- Fixed team swap issue.

Hunter
- Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing.
- Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does.

Smoker
- Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance.
- Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break.
- Survivor's cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
- Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer.
- Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time.
- Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
- Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts.
- Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors.

Tank
- Bashable objects now appear with a red glow.
- Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently.
- Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists.
- Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks.

Witch
- Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams.
- Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank.
- Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors.
Sounds like they've given a lot more power to the infected, which can be tough for the survivors, but really will help wear down the melee-spamming tight teams.

The tank thing is huge. Predictable or not, it sucks when the tank spawns at different point. I had a game last night where it spawned as soon as my team left the safe room and wrecked us, and when it came their turn it took far longer, giving them an unfair advantage.

The "map exploits" bit interests me. I wonder which exploits they fixed. Blocking the survivors' path? Smoker instagibs? Jumping shortcuts?

Seems like the change to smoker damage will make the Nothing Special achievement a little more difficult to obtain. I guess you have about a second to kill the smoker after it tongues you, or you have to kill it before it tries in the first place! Expert campaign is awesome, btw

I got that achievement last night. You have about a second to shoot the smoker before he reels you in.

I'm hoping to get 100% achievements before I move on. I think a few of the tougher ones virtually require a 4 man team of competent players as you just can't trust the AI survivors to not do stupid things like pat the Witch on the head I expect Lamb 2 Slaughter will be one of the hardest to obtain, unless you cheese it but having a friend purposely let you kill them after they enter/leave the safe room.

I can't get the simpler ones for the life of me. I imagine it was much easier to get the 100 ft. drag and the Barf Bag in the first few weeks.
