Hey, it was a good team.

We were dropping tanks before they could get in the room (They kept getting stuck in the windows)

It doesn't hurt that you (and mostly everybody else) is used to defending that particular spot by this stage in the game.

Is it me, or does the minigun lack a certain...punch to it?

Unless they nerfed it, not really. I've found the problem to be they always place it in non-useful way. I realize they're trying to balance the game, but in real life you would use the van to flank your right side, not block 60ยบ of your mini-guns range.

I mean in the sound and stopping power of the bullets, every other game that features a minigun lets you know you are firing a minigun. In L4D it almost seems like I'm running a hedge-clipper.

I've noticed volume issues with parts of the game. There's a lot of different possible sources for audio, and from what I can tell, they try to prioritize them. A mini-gun might effectively deafen you to any threats, hence...

So does Survival mode kills count towards achievements like Red Mist? I didn't bother to check my stats to see if my kills were being counted during those games.

Hey Dakar, you got a link to those leaderboards you're looking at? I'm curious to see what others have accomplished in 1 day of playtime.

Oh damn... they should really have an online leaderboard. Why other game companies haven't taken a queue from Bungie, I don't understand.

They have yet to even copy the really obvious good ideas, like theater mode.

I have a the feeling theater mode is like customizable controls. Seen as too much work for too little of a marketable feature.

A nice healthy reminder why you don't play with randoms for Fatty, then I, last night.

Fatty, when I died on the third chapter one of our team mates appeared AFK... then when we started chapter 4, he was still AFK... until he apparently spawned and cornered one guy (which I watched when I was dead and was this odd Mexican Stand-off... Then the survivors kicked the dude involved โ€“ which I later noticed kicked the guy on our team too -- the assholes were on the same TV. I love that they rejoined too, only they ended up switched on teams.

Now here's the kicker -- I played another game later, and half-way through the game the opposing team kicks out -- the survivor from the last game! Guy gets around.

Wow, I've had morons rejoin when they weren't wanted, but I've never had one follow me from game to game. And I pretty much only play randoms since nobody I know is ever on when I play at like 2 a.m. Pacific.

What the hell will L4D2 offer that can't be done via a DLC pack?

Here's my best guess: L4D (as a new IP) didn't exactly move boatloads in the early going. However the game has been steadily growing by word of mouth. Now, a second game is much easier (and cheaper) to produce, it'll get more press and praise than the original, the people who purchased the first one will grab it for new campaigns, people who were on the fence about the first one will grab it, and people who had heard about it a long time ago but never cared enough to go get it will pick it up because you don't make sequels to bad games (heh). Then, they'll have a larger installed base to pawn DLC to.

I don't care what they call it, I want it. L4D is insanely fun, but at the same time insanely repetitive with its limited number of maps. The Survival Pack helped, but it was short lived, as the peeps I play with usually go for campaign games. I'll be getting this game as well as any DLC's that follow. I only play a couple games at a time, and right now its L4D and Fallout 3. Both of which I will buy any and all DLC's or sequels.

Go ahead, call me a whore for the system, but hey I like it like that.

...weird, I've barely seen you play this game, aside from what looked like a few boosting sessions.

Edit: Do you ever play vs.?

Only play vs. rarely. I play with a few dudes I work with, usually about 2-3 nights a week, less lately though. We play pretty late at night. We just play through campaign mode, usually on Normal. A couple guys I play with aren't very skilled at gaming, so setting to a higher difficulty is a "challenge".

I still need a few achievements in that game, most of which need to be done with players who are pretty skilled (expert campaign completions, Untouchables). Lately though I've been playing more Fallout 3, due to the recent DLC. But I just got all of the achievements in Fallout 3 (although I need to redo Death from Above because MS is lame), so I'll be trying for more in L4D now.

I've tried expert and it is indeed ridiculous. Which is why I'm thinking I'll try to ride on the backs of those who are much better than me by playing with some random people. Although that is likely to backfire and send me into a rage rivaling the tank.

Yes I will, because I'll have moved on to games with achievements that are attainable while you're wasting three days attempting one achievement.

I did it with my regular crew once and we were failing by mid second level.

It's just like Gears 2 Insane โ€“ it's not more difficult, they've just made the health/damage for each side widely out of proportion.

Yeah I've tried it too, with bad results. When a normal zombie takes 10hp away from you with each hit, and it takes a lot more shots to kill one, it gets ugly fast. The worst is when they send 3 special infected at you at once, along with a mob of zombies, and top it off with a Tank shortly after. I don't like that very much.

And I have no idea how I'll get Untouchables. I don't see how thats possible with 4 people not taking a single point of damage through an entire finale without cheesing it in some way. Although, I'm not above cheesing ridiculous achievements, so....

Kotaku - Five Bloody Minutes Of Left 4 Dead 2 Gameplay - E3

Obviously I can't give the most objective analysis, but overall, I'm really not that impressed. I like the sound of the new weapons, (The blood spurts seem nicer, the new pipe bomb effect is nice), but nothing I'm ga-ga for.

Kinda neat I guess, zombies during the daytime are sorely underused. The limb removal looks new as well.

Still not going to un-bitter my stance on L4D2 though.

Not a big fan of daylight levels. Don't zombies hate the sun or move slower in daylight or something? Either way, for vags like me daylight make it less scary so its dumb..

Spoiled? Quite the opposite. One of the arguments for picking up the (short) original was Valve had a history of supporting their games.

I get ya, but nighttime horror jump-out-at-ya games are a dime a dozen...I like a little daytime carnage once and a while.

I can dig that. My argument for picking that game up was that it was awesome. I played the demo and that was it, I had to have it.

So, what is your guys' best time in any Survival map? My best is about 5:22 on the Warehouse level. Can't seem to break the 5 minute mark though.
