My ruel of thumb: 10 cent/MHz and then some adjustment for other stuff. So 250 dollars and then some more for the airport, USB card, Bluetooth.

...that's one of the craziest things I've read in quite a while.

Dual 1.25s fetch between $500 and $700 on eBay regularly.

You should be able to get $600 I think. $700 is in low end G5 territory.

...What's your point?

Lower-end G5s are outperformed by the last G4s.

this sort of makes me wonder what the MDD in my sig is worth. I can't imagine ever selling it though since I'm sure I could put it to good use even when I upgrade.
AT&T iPhone 5S and 6; 13" MBP; MDD G4.

Lateralus "...that's one of the craziest things I've read in quite a while."
I am talking about value of general functionality. Not the affective "value" of a Cube or the specific value of any other mac. If I had a 100 000 dollar tool that must be controlled by a mac running OS 7, a LC II would be very valuble to me.

First generation PCI powermacs (no OS X) and beige G3s really are below that 10c/MHz as their OS X support is low. The G4 is getting closer to that abyss too. Alredy last year there were G5/Intel only games and very soon there will be Intel only apps and then the usefullness of the G4 will be comparable what the PM 9600 is today. The day you need more than a ATI 9800 the MDD is outdated.

If you pay 700 for a MDD and then some for a dsiplay you get very close to the price of a 2 GHz dual core 17" iMac.

I have a 1.2 GHz G4 with ATI 8500 1GB RAM USB 2 card with several HDs I would not expect it to sell above 200 dollars, crazy or not
