I was just given an old DP 867 MDD. It's loud, and I don't like it. I've searched high and low for fans to replace those in the power supply, but it seems like they're nowhere to be found. I've googled, and ended up with fans that are out of spec, or simply run at the same dB level and that's no good. I got all my data from xlr8yourmac.com...

Anyone know where I can pick up 60mm, ~28CFM fans for the Power Supply?

thanks

Before going the fan replacement routeā€¦ have you tried this?

Apple - Support - Discussions - My solution to MDD Dual 1Ghz fan noise ...

In a nutshell, download CHUD 3.5.2 (avoid any other version)

ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Tool_C...ormance_tools/

then open System Preferences, look for a G4 CPU icon dubbed 'Hardware' and enable NAP, please note you could have to enable it each time you boot - restart your MDD.

It seems does wonders with dual MDDs, did nothing to my single 1,25 GHz MDD

I messed around with different 120 mm fans and what have you to keep the MDD resonably quite. Panflo and other fans makes them quiter. But it is s bad design. It is very similar to the B&W G3 tower that held one 450 MHz G3 one HD and a DVD reader. Two very hot 1.25 HHz G4s and the option to add several HDs and hot graphical card really tax that system.
