Hi, this is my first post here and I'm hoping for some help.
I have a late 2008 aluminum Macbook and I'm looking for a HD upgrade. I don't have the money to afford an SSD and my budget is about $100. If someone could recommend a good company or even a specific hard drive, that would be great. I would like at least 320 gb of storage and obviously Sata and any other things it needs to have to fit my computer.

For the $100 price range, I wouldn't get the regular 750 GB Seagate Momentus. I'd get the 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive for $90. The 750 GB version of the Momentus XT is significantly faster apparently (and it has much more on-board flash), but it also costs significantly more.
That said, I think a few people have had compatibility issues.
However, what I'd really do is think hard about spending $210 for a 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD.

What Eug said about trying to afford SSD.
SSDs are the only way to go, especially in laptops. Even 128 GB SSD if financially necessary; if you need more capacity use inexpensive external HDDs for data.
I bought my 2011 MBP with 128GB SSD and will never again use HDD for boot.
