I'm new to Mac-OS so can people recommend HTML authoring software?

I'm not looking for WYSIWYG, more about a powerful editor with autocomplete, CSS/PHP support, FTP file management etc. At the moment I use the excellent HTMLPad on the PC, which is Windows only. The equivalent for Mac is what I'm ideally looking for!

Cheers.

There are alot of them. You might want to do a search either on the forum or on MacUpdate or VersionTracker.

I would recommend skEdit ... the current beta (available after purchase) is great!
Smultron (free), TacoHTML (free), SubEthaNet, BBEdit, TextMate, etc....

threestain listed the only two real options outside of the WYSIWYG realm, IMO.

I use skEdit. The code hinting is its best feature.

As with all Mac software, there's a free demo. The full version is $20 for lifetime support and upgrades, a great deal.

CSSEdit is a great app for doing CSS. Could do with a GUI for picking CSS selectors though, and a few template stylesheets thrown in would be good too (as the author is also a talented web designer). But it's cheap, so I can't complain.

...and there's that other one that's cross platform CSS editor. Whassitcalledagain ?

TextMate is shaping up to be a great editor, BBedit already is (but is pricey). SubEthaEdit has some amazing unique features, especially if you need to collaborate with another developer remotely.

One thing you'll like about a lot of Mac editors is the live, as-you-type web preview, thanks to WebCore's integration. Oh, and WebCore/Safari's unmatched CSS compliance.

That gave me a chuckle, thinking about how much live-preview would suck on Windows using the Explorer engine. Then again, that explains all those broken sites made with .Net studio.
