As much as I like Star Trek I would never go near a Star Trek Forum.

Sweet. Time to cybersquat and grab startrek.com when it expires. Then, when the next Star Trek series comes out in 10 years, I can sell it for.... ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

startrek.com has a curse on it...be warned...anyone who registers startrek.com will get fat, wear funny looking clothing, have a cow-lick, wear a funny looking pin on the left side of their chest and they'll start to say" Warp speed" all the time.

I just bought a car that had a voice activated navigation option, and I thought "Hey, It would be entertaining if the nav system responded in a voice like the computer from Star Trek." Then I thought I would then need the aforementioned "Pssssssssht!" sound every time I opened and closed the car door... and I snapped out of it. For the love of the Sweet Baby Jesus, I hate Star Trek! What am I thinking! Then I ran screaming down the street. I now need much therapy.

I did not get the voice activated navigation option.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I'm more interested in the split of Viacom.

The split, to be completed by the end of the year, will create a company based on Viacom's cable networks including MTV and VH1, and another built around CBS and a group of TV and radio stations and other properties.

Shares in the two companies, to be called Viacom Inc. and CBS Corp., began trading on a preliminary, or "when-issued" basis, on the New York Stock Exchange Monday. Their tickers are VIA.B.WI and CBS.WI, respectively.

The when-issued shares in the new Viacom Inc. closed at $42.80 on the NYSE, while CBS's closed at $26.70. The distribution of the new shares will be one half of a new Viacom and one half of a CBS share for each old Viacom share held.

Viacom has said it wants to give investors a choice between owning the faster-growing cable networks such as MTV and VH1, versus the cash-producing properties CBS and the radio stations.

The split also resolves the issue over who will succeed Sumner Redstone as chief executive of Viacom. Former MTV chief Tom Freston will lead the new Viacom Inc., while former CBS honcho Leslie Moonves will lead the new CBS Corp.
What does this say for media conglomerates as a whole? Or does it not change much?
