I am having this problem with a friends UMAX scanner. There are distinct green & yellow bands down the right hand side when scans or previews are performed.

I found this has been discussed in a previous discussion from last year

but there wasn't really a conclusive answer as to what will FIX it (disregarding the calls to trash the scanner. I know- UMAX scanners DO suck bigtime.)

Anyone with an answer? Thanks.

take the lid off, unscrew the top, and clean the glass and the black strip near the back, obn the peice that you unscrewed. it is a calabrator. the lines show up when it is not calabrated.

screw the top back on and put the lid on and you shouldn't have lines any more.
