I've heard "praw-leen" in the New Orleans area, but mostly it's been "pray-leen." Delicious, but dangerous to your wardrobe!

Down here in the Deep South we Southerners pronounce it "praw-leen."

That's the way it's said.

Down here, at least. But, I've heard it pronounced "pray-leen" up north.

Keep in mind some things don't sound the way they're spelled. Think about "Colonel." How do you pronounce "colonel?" Or "Wednesday." When was the last time you heard, "My appointment is on Wed-nes-day?"

Northerners say:

New OR-LEENS...

PRAY-LEENs...

Southerners say:

PRAW-LEENS
