Ion Audio has introduced a Bluetooth version of a standard audio accessory for vehicle owners who's cars came with no "Aux In" jack but rather a cassette player (which was still standard equipment on many vehicles into the middle of the last decade) -- the cassette adapter. The unit turns itself on and off automatically when inserted or ejected, and has a battery that lasts up to six hours (rechargeable through mini-USB, rather than the turning of the sprocketed wheels as one might expect) and can also route calls through the car's audio system (though a speakerphone is still needed to talk). Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but the product is on display at Ion Audio's CES booth.

Kindle for iOS updated to v4.1, adds flash cards, filters

Amazon has updated its Kindle app for iOS devices to version 4.1, adding flash cards for students, better in-book searching, notebook filters to make bookmarks and annotations easier to find, page footers with flexible displayed data options, an update to the "X-Ray" feature for characters and terms, a redesigned dictionary and easier collections management. Students can create flash cards from textbooks for studying, and leverages the X-Ray feature using data from Wikipedia on specific characters, places and other topics. Page footers can now offer page numbers, or the time left in a given book at typical reading speed. Searching within a book is now almost instantaneous and adds auto-suggest. The update is available now and free of charge.

Parrot debuts 'MiniDrone' small quadricopter

Also at CES today, toy helicopter maker Parrot has debuted a few new iOS-controlled vehicles, in particular a smaller version of its AR Drone quadricopter known as the "MiniDrone." The new model features enhanced agility due to an increased number of sensors, removable wheels for banking or takeoff and an auto-pilot mode. The unit is smaller and significantly lighter than the larger AR Drone. Availability, full specifications and pricing have not yet been announced.
