U.S. hopes to buy loyalty; Bush to ask Congress for $400 million for 'Solidarity Initiative'
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- (OfficialWire) -- 02/10/05 -- George W. Bush said Wednesday that he would ask the U.S. Congress for $100 million to help modernize armed forces in Poland. During an Oval Office meeting with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Bush said he was confident that Congress would approve the money.

The amount is 50 per cent more than the United States gave Poland last year.

Bush is asking Congress for $400 million to reward a number of countries that have sent troops to Afghanistan and or Iraq. It is hoped that the money could prove an incentive for countries to keep their military in Iraq.

Spain, Singapore, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, Norway and Honduras have already pulled out.

The money is part of a $80 billion war funding request Bush will send to Congress next week.

The fund, called the 'Solidarity Initiative', will benefit countries "promoting freedom around the world", White House spokesman Scott McClellan said in a statement.

"These funds... reflect the principle that an investment in a partner in freedom today will help ensure that America will stand united with stronger partners in the future," he added.

Unfortunately, the payments might also be considered by some as effectively converting the remaining country's military forces into mercenaries hired guns used by the U.S. to impose its dogma upon the formerly sovereign nation of Iraq and her people.
Well...

The Coalition of the Billing

Maybe the poor members of the US National Guard in Iraq could have used some of that $400million as body armor?

"Mr. President, we, the people of Poland, believe the current military operations in Iraq have ceased to be effective and we no longer want to be apart of your coalition."

"It's gone to sh*t."
"Oh, well... will THIS change your mind?"
"Mr. President, we, the people of Poland, believe the current military operations in Iraq have been completely effective and are honored to be apart of your coalition.

I think spending money to protect your own should be of bigger importance then giving away money to other countries.
