Hi,

I'm looking for a USB to RJ11 jack (a normal phoneline jack) to use a regular phone with Skype and SkypeOut, and works with Macs. Anyone know of any?

Thanks!

I just did a quick search. Sorry for not looking deeper. I was hoping one of those might work. Perhaps a better google search would turn something up. Trouble is, these things seem to require drivers, which often makes them very platform specific.

Yeah, I have looked everywhere. But, in the new version of Skype, a new feature seems to allow the Skype API available to carbon apps. Maybe I am reading the feature wrong, but if not, it should make the driver easier.

Anyone else have any input? Seems like there are only two options for us Mac users.
One from CuPhone and the other from Yealink.
Does caller ID work on either? How about the drivers/software?
I'm kind of leaning towards the CuPhone one only because they offer a USB to Skype only setup where as the other is a Skype + PSTN setup.

As you know, the Yealink product states its Mac compatible:

USB Skype Phone Adapter

The Mac user manual is posted here:

There is also a Mac review of the product:

I think I'm going with this one, just because the software and website look a lot more professional.

Hi,

I'm the author of the review of the USB Skype phone adapter on Macs are Great!, it's my site.

I can recommend the product offered by Von-phone. I've had it perhaps a month now and it is attached to an Intel iMac that I leave on 24 by 7. On 2 or 3 occasions in that month the driver applet provided by von-phone has abended for no apparent reason. On both occasions I reset the unit by disconnecting the USB cable to the Skype adapter, waiting a moment, re-connecting it, and then restarting the SkyMacMate driver. I'd say it is no less reliable than the Skype 2.0 software.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
