classic OS9 not working

I get the following error message.
Is it a free download and can i get it from the apple web site.
Also why has it stopped working.

Evidently your Classic system folder got corrupted and is no longer recognized by OS X. If you have a recent machine, a Classic installer is on the Extra Software disc. If you don't have that, you can copy an existing system folder from another Mac to your drive.

I only have one mac. The extra software disc i have is for panther not tiger and i cant get it to work. Is there anywhere else i can get it.

It does not matter that it's a Panther disc. Just place it in and double click the disc's icon. You'll see some Read Me files and the Classic installer. Double click the Classic installer and install Classic. It's easy.

thanks got it working now. At first it wouldnt let me run the classic installer but when i tried to eject the disk a folder opend with classic in.
