just trying to get a feel for what kind of mice are controlling you all's Macs. so post up what you you're clicking and what machine you're using it on.


currently on my MacBook im running my old crappy de!! (eeek) wireless mouse and keyboard. obviously its not cutting it.

im looking for a new laser mouse w/ awesome wireless connection, multiple buttons, preferably Fast RF, preferably dark/black and not too expensive. it also has to be rechargable.

i love Logitech so im currently looking at the MX1000 (Fast RF,$58)
any thoughts on it, or any other good mice worth looking at?

I use a Kensington dual button. The only thing that I ever wanted from the PC side is the right click!

I have a BlueTooth wireless but it just plain eats batteries. I even got a rechargable setup and was real religious about it until I just plain got sick and tired of replacing batteries every other day...grumble!

I have the Logitech S530 keyboard and mouse setup. it's a pretty slick wireless combo. the mouse works great but the keyboard doesn't tell you when you have capslock. seems trivial because you will find out quickly if you do have it on but it's just something that bothers me.

I have this tiny "dynabook" mouse; it's white/pearlescent, with two buttons and a click/scroll wheel that lights up blue (though the tracking light is still red). It's the coolest thing in the world, especially for portable use.

My desktop has a basic Logitech optical scroll mouse.

Logitech MX revolution - a superb mouse, though some have said that the Mac drivers aren't perfect.

As for a keyboard, if you can touch type, look for das Keyboard II - completely black, no markings (hence you need to touch type), and has an IBM-style bulletproof 'clicky' mechanism.

Apple wireless mouse. I used to have an MX500, but using all the extra buttons (in addition to the large-ish size of the mouse) gave me RSI, so now I religiously use this one-button mouse.

Apple wired Mighty Mouse. It's taken a bit of adjustment, coming from standard PC mice, but so far I like it. Makes gaming a little awkward, but not impossible.

MX1000, before that I had the wired MightyMouse, but the ball stopped scrolling one way, so it got returned after a few months.

Logitech MX is great by the way, although since I got my Xbox 360 with wireless controllers I have had to re sync the mouse a few times. Wondering if theres an RF frequency conflict between the mouse and the Xbox controllers that keeps knocking the mouse out? It only happens when I turn the Mac on sometimes, it doesn't lose connection in the middle of using it.

I'm using a Wacom mouse on an older white Graphire tablet. I'm looking into alternatives, though, as I originally bought the tablet for graphic work, but I've found I don't use it enough to justify it. The mouse is not as accurate as I'd like, but it is a two-button scroll-wheel mouse. I'm not big on the Mighty Mouse either, however.

Wireless Mighty Mouse - So far so good, no problems at all.

I haven't found anything better if you are left handed... But then its all personal preference.

I have two Razer mice... the copperhead (which will not natively work with osx)

and the Pro 1.6, this mouse is AWESOME! high DPi (1600) which takes some getting used to (it can be easily turned down at any time with button combonations) I am having an issue with the settings reverting back to slow on reboot of my mac pro, but I usually sleep it so I dont deal with it much...

Buy a razer mouse... they rock!

Wireless Mighty Mouse, love it. I especially like the possibility to operate it with only one battery, which makes the mosue significantly lighter, and it's behavior on white surfaces, which is flawless.

i use the MBP trackpad usually and only use the external mouse when i need to use software that requires frequent left and right clicks

Logitech LX7 wireless mouse, because I like to switch between hands and mouse on the tray or on the desk. Though I'm right handed, I use the mouse primarily with my left hand. Also, I'm still on the same AA batteries since I bought it around March of 2006.

Some cons: Side scrolling still doesn't work smoothly. Also, the USB receiver dongle will likely need to be put in front of the computer instead of, for example, behind an iMac for it to work properly. The receiver right now is plugged in the USB port of my Macally icekey--with the help of an adapter to fit oversized USB dongles like this one.

The Laser Mouse 6000 is the most affordable (and apparently most compatible) laser-based mouse I've seen yet. Laser tracking is a quantum leap beyond optical tracking-I'll buy what mduell says.

I was previously using a Logitech mx700 with success, but wanted less desktop clutter and one less thing using a usb port. Since I never had any issues with Logitech hardware, I decided to look around for something else by them and noticed the v270. It uses bluetooth so it wont take up a usb port on my powerbook, and it matches the finish so it looks nice too. Its a bit smaller than other logitech meeces i've used in the past, but I find the smaller shape comfortable.

I'm using the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse along with Apple's Bluetooth keyboard. I love this combination! Despite many people not liking the Mighty Mouse (wired or wireless) I think it's an excellent mouse. It tracks brilliantly. Yes, it does taking used to using the buttons but if you're willing to retrain how to use a multi-button mouse, this mouse works great.

In any case, I've always used Single-button mouse (except the few times I need to use Windows machines) until the bluetooth Mighty Mouse, so there's wasn't much retraining I needed to do. Besides, I'm left-handed, so I always needed to retrain my hands when using a right-handed person's Windows mouse. Sure, I could have gone in to Mouse preferences to change the settings, but the usage was only temporary.

Anyhow, Bluetooth Mighty Mouse is a great choice for some people!
