How much would that cost? My guess would be tens of millions.

Whatever the amount, it does reinforce my belief that the uber-prolonged US campaign is a humungous waste of money.

I believe (most) candidates get a reduced rate. I have heard that BO is paying $1million US for each 30 minute slot.

What the dilly?

If true, that's surprising.

Actually, I'm disappointed it's not way more expensive, because it only encourages them.

per the AP
The Obama team bought time on CBS, NBC and Fox for about $1 million per network. The spot airs at 8 p.m. EDT. It is also scheduled to run on Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV One.

ABC wanted $2 Million for their air time. Obama said no thanks. So ABC is showing Pushing Daisies in it's regular spot.

This type of ad buy was the norm in Campaigns on both sides, until the Fairness Doctrine was done away with during the Reagan Administration.
The Religious Right is neither.

Is the money somehow not in play until it's given to candidates?

Oh thank goodness. My girlfriend would be pissed if she didn't have Pushing Daisies this week...

I'm sure it's more than Palin's wardrobe...

Wouldn't the value of the airtime go way down since nobody is going to sit and watch 30 minutes of propaganda (applies to both candidates)? Superbowl ads are worth so much because everyone watches them, but who wouldn't just change the channel if they saw this on?

The amount of money that the candidates spend on their campaigns could feed and clothe every homeless person in the country for the next four years.

More than I make in a year. Probably more than Palin's clothes and makeup cost in the last 2 months.
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer
June 2001: 132,047,000 employed
June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

Heh. The reporters are calling it the Obama infomercial.

I wonder who is gonna sit through it. It's almost like a presidential address... with no president, just a wannabe.
