As we stand here in 2009, in the shadow of the end of the first decade of the new millennium, a reminder of a sadder, more putrid time returns to haunt our waking and sleeping moments.

Now, here, in 2009, the monobrowed Irish f**ckpixie Chris DeBurgh has unleashed a new album upon us. And I can taste that little piece of sickness in my throat.

But, no, it's worse. It's a cover album, a personal journey through the wafer deep musical depths of DeBurghs musical hinterland. Presenting All along the watchtower, by Chris DeBurgh, presenting Turn Turn Turn by Chris DeBurgh, presenting Where Have all the ^&*(%%$! Flowers Gone, and, just what the world needs, American Pie, by Chris DeBurgh.

No one, no one on the planet has been so bad that they deserve to share a planet with this slice of musical vomit.

As you were.

DeBurgh can do whatever he wants. Lady in Red was a scoring staple back in the late 80s, along with Lovesong and Every Breath You Take (creepy, but true). They were sonic panty remover, and for that I will be eternally indebted.

Surprisingly, “argumentum ad pantium” yields no results in Google.

(Incidentally, I’d argue it should be ‘argumentum ad pantia’)

It's a hapax logomenon, courtesy of yours truly.

Apparently so. I just figured such a useful expression would surely have been invented before—guess not.

Shouldn't that be "argumentum ex pantia"?

The most important part being "out of"

Here it is in use: I'm often asked "Dude, why do you have 'Don Juan DeMarco' in your video library?" I respond with the argumentum ex pantia.

You can take the dude out of So Cal, but you can't take the dude outta the dude, dude!

"Argument from the panties"? That sounds a little weirder if we're talking about heterosexual males.

Or just non-cross-dressing males in general …

Argumentum expantians, perhaps?

Perhaps we men should take our cue from Harry Potter and wave our wands around while yelling "PANTIUS EXPELOROMUS!"
What, me worry?

That might possibly have exactly the opposite effect of the intended one.

Most of the guys who are doing that kind of thing are too busy waving their wands at each other.
