I'm looking at a drive for a customer. They were using it when all hte files suddenly vanished from the drive!
I removed the drive from the (ancient) case and stuck it in my server, it mounted OK and was named corrctly but indeed showed zero files and folders. I ran Disk Warrior over it and it appeared to recover the directory easily enough but when I looked there were only a few files visible.
So I hauled out my copy of Data Recovery II. After a loooong look and more than a few bad blocks it looks like it has found pretty much everything, but it also looks like a long haul to get ti all back, 2 or 3 days by it's own clock.
Anyway, despite DR being able to show me all the file names etc in the right place it only appears to be recovering generically named files, which I belive is a "feature" of OS X file recovery.
Does anyone know a better way to maybe be going about this. It's annoying that I can see the file directory structure but not easily get to the files.
Any ideas?
