Windows Phone 7 buries the competition.

WP7 locked for Oct. 11 as Microsoft holds iPhone "funeral" | Electronista

I did get a chuckle seeing Vader ride a motorcycle.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

They'll probably sell a sh!tload of WP7 devices. The marketing push will be huge (unprecedented?) and they'll have the support of multiple carriers. Don't discount Microsoft's mobile reboot. They've certainly learned a lot over the past 3 years and Windows Phone 7 looks to be compelling.

No single platform is going to be all things to all people. When things all shake out, I'm sure iOS, Android and WinPhone 7 will carve out their niches. The interesting thing to watch will be whether BlackBerry and webOS can stay (or in HP/Palm's case, become) relevant.

As for the funeral, that's just stupid. If it motivates their people though... Whatevs. Apple threw a symbolic one in 2002. Microsoft just can't resist copying.

With a show like this, even if Windows 7 is successful at any measure, this looks simply childish.

It's amazing how Microsoft manages to go to new lows of marketing again and again.

Funny thing is that some of the pictures were taken with an Evo 4G...

Where Was Android In Microsoft’s iPhone Funeral Procession? Taking The Pictures

"Also interesting is that Android was nowhere to be seen in this whole ordeal. Well, unless you count Microsoft employee “Carl J,” who captured the whole event and put the pictures on his Flickr page. His camera? An EVO 4G running Android."
