I have 2 high quality VCDs...( I think maybe an SVCD) and I'd like to join them on one DVD for convenince. I can't find anything that will convert the MPEG-1 .DAT file into QuickTime so that I can use it in iDVD. I've tried QuickTIme Pro to export the video (which won't play in the QT player anyway) but it crashes the QT player all the time....

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any ideas or software suggestions to get this done?

Use VCD Copy X to extract the MPEG file from the VCD/SVCD.

Take a look at this. I have not tried it but it looks like what you want.
