So it was in the News, they have sensed Methane in Mars and now they are arguing as to what it is that is making it.... It said that the Methane has a life span of about 300 years. Mars is 4 billion... so the other cause... a bio organism that is creating Methane as a bi- product, much like the cows and all living beens on Earth create it.
That's it, WOILA, Martian Life FOUND! indirectly.
It gives the phrase "Cutting the Cheese" an added dimension.

It's also possible that the methane comes from volcanic activity.
Although martian Cows sounds cooler.
