Hi All,
I have a powerbook g4 1.25 ghz 15 inch. Right now, it's been running fine on 512MB of RAM. I need to know if I'll need more RAM if I upgrade to Tiger. Also, what type of RAM would I need to get. Finally, would the 256MB chip that I would be upgrading work in a 1ghz g4 ibook? Thanks

Need? No .... make a better experience? Yes.

The old chip should work fine on the older machine.
You need PC3200 or faster (I think). Check www.dealram.com.

(Someone here pointed me in that direction a while back ... just returning the favor)
- MacBook Air M2 16GB / 512GB
- MacBook Pro 16" i9 2.4Ghz 32GB / 1TB
- MacBook Pro 15" i7 2.9Ghz 16GB / 512GB
- iMac i5 3.2Ghz 1TB
- G4 Cube 500Mhz / Shelf display unit / Museum display

You can also try these 1GB sticks of Kingston Value RAM. I have two running in my AiBook 1.0 and they work perfectly.

No.

PC2700 or faster.

Your old 256MB PC2700 stick *should* work in the iBook G4, which requires PC2100 or faster.

This would work in a 12" Rev C right? I'm thinking of upgrading for Tiger (and gaming... mostly gaming) and it seems like a nice deal. Most intriguing.

I would say, with a pretty high level of certainty, that they would work. The 12" Rev C states it takes PC2700 SODIMMs, and that's what these are.

I've read lots of other reviews of people saying these work in PowerBook G4s, and like I said, they work in mine so I would think they'd work in yours too.

They have a 30-day no-charge return guarantee, so even if for some strange reason they didn't work, you'd only be out the cost of return shipping... Less than $10 via USPS, including insurance.

I don't work there, but now I feel like they should pay me a commission...
