This is exactly what they will do. Apple has wanted to bow out of MacWorld for a while because it can host it's own events and receive more fanfare.

We'll see updates sometime in February I'm sure.

New Mini, speed bumps, 32GB iPhone and the announcement that the 17" is now shipping - it will be delayed for some reason.

I would have loved to have been able to get iLife '09 today.

I downloaded the trial for iWork '09 and Keynote has some nice improvements. The remote is very impressive and will be handy during my presentations.

umm, guys guys GUYS

Everything fits.

The 17-inch MacBook Pro comes with a large 320GB hard drive,4 so there’s plenty of room for your photo and video projects and other files. With up to 8GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory, you can run more applications at once and instantly access even more of your stuff. Burn DVDs using the ultrafast 8x SuperDrive. MacBook Pro also offers an optional 128GB or 256GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability.
edit:
ouch, it's a $1,200.00 upgrade

Don't forget the iPhone nano.

Two things we've learned from this keynote:

1) Apple technology is cool...without Steve. He might have been the person behind the idea (or some smart Apple employee), but I was excited about the cool new features of iPhoto and it didn't take Steve to pitch it to me for me to say "I WANT!".

2) Apple stock will drop no matter what.

That's what it costs elsewhere (you'd need two of these) right now too.

After these announcements I'm a-buyin' my MacBook 13" next week I guess...

As unsurprising as the 'new' 17inch MacBook Pro is, I'm happy to see it, because the budget just came back for this year, and there's room for an upgrade. Hoozah.
