Just a hunch.
This is the year of the laptop. If the 970 is a cooler more efficient chip than the G4 then I don't see why not. I see it being available in the 15" first for an estimated $3500 street price. Aluminum enclosure, superdrive and backlit keyboard standard.
As a side note IMO the 17" is a 1 maybe 2 gen machine. It's just too big to be taken seriously as laptop. I also assume most people would rather spend the extra money saved on a desktop monitor esp. with lcd prices continuing to fall the way they are.

Why do you think the 970 will be cooler? If any, there's indicationthat it will be hotter.

WHY do people feel the need to spread cr*p like this around?
Are you THAT bored?
If you're going to gossip at least involve sex or something!

$3,500? Not a chance in hell. Apple could never survive starting things like THAT again.

So you don't think there is a market for the most powerful laptop on earth?
Maybe you're just envious because you lack the funds to buy such a computer.

Someone finally told Pamela Anderson that Kid Rock was fugly, so she dumped him. Now, rumor has it, that she went back to Tommy Lee. She just doesn't get it...
How's that?

Yes, but obviously Dual 970s for $3500 is not feasible.
Quad-970s for $1999 is much better. Don't agree?
Maybe you're just envious because you lack the vision to imagine such a powerful computer.
x 10^100.
