If you dislike Chinese women, what group did you prefer? Or what parameters?

I need to know the consensus here before kicking it upstairs.

I loves me all kinds of women, it's the thinly veiled "mail order bride" part which is skeevy.

I'll bet they don't have online delivery either. Old school mail order all the way.

So far we have one vote against "mail order brides" ads. I'm personally not a fan of this sort of thing, but I've been pretty much immune to advertising since my youth; my mom worked for an ad agency, so my siblings and I learned how the advertising magic works and we tend to critique ads instead of believe them.

If we're voting, we clearly need to make this a poll. Me, I think it's tacky. Also:

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

The question is, is it a legit dating site or some "other" kind of site? It seems suspicious to me.

You know, I'm a little miffed we have to do this "family friendly" dance around here, but I get resistance to a complaint about your ads for sex slavery sites.

So far, no one else has given a clear vote against it ... makes it hard to take action.

OT, does anyone else think the example guy looks like Maj. Gen. Hammond? And we never did see his wife on screen.

IMHO: If we are to be consistent with our PG-13 policies, those ads have to go.

I haven't saved up enough for mine yet. Then you can get rid of them.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

With multiple complaints, I've sent it upstairs.

It would be helpful if someone could capture the ad code for one of those banners. We don't know offhand which intermediary put those into the rotation.

Those ads are through google and the content isn't controlled by MacNN. If you click on the little AdChoices information button that is attached to those banners you will be redirected to a page that explains this.

"The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services. In doing this, Google doesn't know your name or any other personal information about you. Google simply recognizes the number stored in your browser on the DoubleClick cookie, and shows ads related to the interest and inferred demographic categories associated with that cookie. It's our goal to make these ads as relevant and useful as possible for you. Google doesn't create categories, or show ads, based on sensitive topics such as race, religion, sexual orientation, or health."

I've never seen any of these ads in question.

FYI: Safari blocks third party cookies by default, so if you're browsing with Safari, Google cannot use your browsing history to target ads (except for what you have browsed on their own sites).

I never get these cool ads.

All I get are ads about cars, scanners, insurance, and technology related.

I didn't even get Obama ads that ebuddy was b*tching about, until subego tricked me into going to obama's website. Now I'm getting tons of spam from the Obama camp.
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer

June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

Unfortunately, it looks like Google has been in a bit of hot water for bypassing Safari's (and other browsers') privacy settings, so Google may be tracking users anyway.

Okay... Now I'm confused.

The link I gave you is routes through doubleclick.net. Is it not the doubleclick people you would talk to?

I'd received a reply that they're looking into it, and click-through URLs would be helpful. Perhaps they didn't read the thread. I'll forward the URLs you've posted.

Heh heh. Trying to send the 3 URLs got my email IP blocked by spamcop for awhile. Probably 10 days. I finally had to use another email address to tell them to get the URLs from this thread.

I can't complain about the sex slavery angle on this one, but lord, is it tacky.

I couldn't grab the link, but I'm pretty sure it's doubleclick as well.

I haven't heard anything since. If it's denied, it wasn't at our level. My bet would be they're tied up with the forum transition.
