Mail App says 4294967142 in the inbox...

...I actually don't have that many.
How do I fix this? I use IMAP and Mac Mail functions perfectly..except lately it shows a huge number at the top for the inbox amount.

Have you tried rebuilding your mailboxes (under Mailbox->Rebuild)?

Yes..it works for a minute..but then if I switch to another folder and then back to it it snaps back to the huge amount. I've tried rebuilding the inbox folder several times with the same result.

I had the same issue with a gmail IMAP...it went away after several system updates and i didnt really pay attention to when it went away

Yes, I've seen that as well. You could try vacuuming the sql lite database. In Terminal type:
sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/Envelope\ Index vacuum
