Hi there,
When I switch users, I don't get the fancy cube animation. What gives?
G4 Dual 867 MDD
Geforce 4 MX
768MB Ram
Thanks in advance.

Simple upgrade or archive install? That is strange. How many users?

i understand that without quartz extreme you will not get the rotating cube effect. However with your config quartz extreme should be enabled. Hmmmm.

It's really odd. Expose works fine. I just miss the cube animation when I'm switching users.
Is there anything that I can check on my system?

I can't figure out how to do fast user switching automatically without being asked for a password. I would like to use this feature for Virtual Desktops.

RooneyX, the only way that I know of to stop that is to not set a password for that user.

The Cube effect does not work on multiple monitors. If you have a single monitor, you may have a problem, but if you're running two or more monitors, the Cube effect won't run.

I noticed that it does not work if you do the "fast switching" and the person is NOT logged in to begin with. After login, and not having the person log out, but just switch to another person who IS logged in, I get the rotating cube. eMac 700mhz.

Indeed, there is no effect if you have multiple monitors. =(
Though, after unplugging my second display, I got to see it. It's really cool.

It's a bit more involved than that. You'll get no animation if the account you're switching to has the screen set to a different resolution... which is the case for most people's logged settings vs. the LoginWindow.

Personally, I'd like to be able to save passwords so I can switch users without worrying about typing passwords. If I can do it for auto-login on restart, I should be able to do it for FUS. It's the same security risk, IMO.

Nope, both users have the same resolution.
Maybe I'll format and do another fresh install...

I've got dual monitors and 5 accounts. Animation didn't work at first, then it seemed to work intermittently as I switched from one account to another in different order, but I couldn't discern a pattern. After seeing Moki's post, I thought he'd nailed it. Mine works all the time now and I have updated the Displays preference for all 5 accounts. On mine, the difference wasn't the resolution, but he Hertz. In each account, the second monitor (attached to an ATI Radeon) was set at 74.9 Hertz instead of 75 where it's always been. I'm sure this change in the setting happened during installation.
Hope this helps.

Is there a way to log out of all users all at once?

Same mac here with 1G and I don't get it either. I noticed during beta testing that the animation effect would come and go.
But come to think of it, I haven't tried the switch users since I got a 20" ACD. I don't mind not having it however as it is much quicker, but then I don't switch at all. I am the only user other than a fresh new user install for testing.

Setting up the same refresh and resolution for all monitors AND users in my dual set up got the cube effect working consistently

Not working here either. Formatted HDD before installing too. Works about once in 10 times. Also, when switching back, the mouse is super accelerated. Probably a bug with MS Mouse software and my Intellimouse Optical.
