I am having weird issues with iPhoto and not sure how I should handle it. My config is as follows, iMac 27inch i7, 8gb of ram, 1tb HDD, latest OS, latest version of iPhoto. I have roughly 5 or 6k pictures. Basically 2 things are happening that are distressing me. When in events or pictures, it scrolls brutally slower than it should. Also when I create a duplicate of a photo and try to edit the picture, it does not show up. It zooms in, but the area where the picture should be is black.
To remedy these issues, I rebuilt the library. Unfortunately that did not help with either issue.
Any thoughts?
Oh, and a side note, I was thinking about moving up to Aperture or Photoshop Elements, but I think that both are overkill for what I do. I basically just catalog all of my personal pictures as well as minor hobby picture taking. Thank you in advance for any help.

just a quick side note. I did upgrade to Aperture 3 and for some odd reason, all of my photos imported in a los-res.
I am working on it, but still have not figured out why as the library size is right.
