OS X's alternating blue and white colored lists are ok, but I really liked 9's list views better. Strangely, the X Finder doesn't implement these alternating colors, nor does Mail. But iTunes does, as well as a host of 3rd party apps. It sure as hell is better than just a plain white background.

in 9, lists (like Finder windows in List View) had grey backgrounds, which made things easier to read. OS X is so much more white than 9, it'd be nice if there were some more greys to make it easier on the eyes. And then every list row in OS 9 was separated by a white line, which also made things easier to read.

If Apple insists on using alternating colors for list views in X (which they should make standard across all their apps, not just iTunes), I wish they'd at least use white and grey, not the blue. Grey is much more neutral and easier on the eyes.

The best thing about 9's lists were that the column that the list was organized by, was highlighted a darker color, to make it easily distinguishable. I really miss this

Yes I agree. The aesthetics and functionality on the OS 9 list view were real good. I hope some of these things get brought over to X...

Not sure whether I prefer blue or grey though. I'd have to see some mockups. Perhaps one of the ever-ready, eager-to-please, graphic designer wannabees that hangs around on this forums can quickly whip one up in one of their usual affirmation-seeking and puppy-dog-like displays?
