I am having a weird issue that I need some help with.
My config is as follows:
iMac 27 inch
i7 - 8gb ram - 1tb HDD - 4850 video card.

So the issue is as follows.
I run in boot camp for gaming only under windows.
I installed Windows 7 32bit and forgot about the "ram" situation.
Windows would only see 3gb of the ram.

Since I have 8gb, I did some reading and found out that I needed to install Windows 7 64bit to "see" all of the ram.
So I go to thew store and buy another! copy of Windows 7 64bit.
Long story short, It sees all of the ram. Everything works for a little bit.

Here is the game list and how they react.
Borderloads - mostly runs fine, but goes slow at times.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - runs horribly
Oblivision - runs good
Crysis Warhead - runs horribly.

So the funny thing here is that other people have posted videos of iMacs running Crysis Warhead with no issues with all settings as high as possible.
I think that the issue maybe that most all games run perfectly under 32-bit and will run, but not well under 64-bit.

The confusion for me come to why have the ram not seen, and then when you can see more of the ram, why do the games run so horribly.
Basically the same OS other than the 32bit/64bit.
Any light that you can shed on this would be great, I just want to run these games as fast as possible and I thought an iMac would do it great.

I think that if I install windows 7 32-bit the games will run better.
Though I understand the concept, I am still concerned and confused about the ram\64-bit OS stuff not running thing

I doubt it's a 64-bit issue, although you probably don't need more than 3GB RAM for games anyway. What graphics drivers are you using: the ones that came with Windows, Apple's latest BootCamp update, or something from AMD?

Install the latest drivers from the manufacturer, they will be newer than what's bundled with Boot Camp 3.

Thank you for the info.
I was using the most recent boot camp drivers.
then I downgraded to the previous boot camp drivers and then borderlands was a bit faster, but something is still wrong.
hmm...
I will try that, but ati/amd's site for finding the newest drivers for that card is not easy.
I think that card is a mobile one, but not listed like that in windows.
I will give this a try in a minute, then update.

the drivers helped a lot in certain games.
i think that it is that some of the games cannot run super fast at the highest resolution.
