ok
i downloaded some dock icons
but i dont know how to use them
i understand you can only use them on the dock but how?

I think if you cmd click the program in the dock, it will show in the finder. Then right click and pick get info. Then click the icon up at the top near the name of the program in the inspector window that comes up. Then copy the icon you want, and paste it into the icon you selected.

That works for me.

yes but that only works with normal icons
not dock icons
i want to use a .png icon for my dock but it doesnt work for me

What specifically do you mean by dock icons?

If you open up the image in preview and copy it, it works. I just did it with a PNG file and set it as an icon in the dock, and displayed fine.

i'm having the same problem with these png icons i just downloaded
they show up as preview images in the dock

after you change your "normal" icon, just get rid of the one on the dock and then drag the normal one to the dock.

Try Pic2Icon for the stubborn image files. It can convert them one at a time or a whole folder at once.
