While I don't know if this has happened before, I'm rather sure that that policy has been around quite a long time. It seems like that was setup to insure that only a certain party wins.

It looks to me like it's going to be:

Bush: At least 271, and up to 278
Kerry: 259

ie.

Bush gets Florida, Ohio, Arkansas, Colorado, and New Mexico, plus maybe Hawaii and Alaska.
Kerry gets Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Hampshire

With 97% of Florida precincts reporting Florida belongs to Bush.

There is no way that over 300,000 votes could be over come within that 3%

(I'm a republican so take this for what it is)

It's going to come down to absentee ballots... If there is an overwhelming absentee for the Democrats (which I'm not sure if it's going to be)... then it could flop over to Kerry, but it's not as likely as some would like to say...

The reality of the situation is... Kerry must win Ohio.

(there is an outside chance he would win without it... but without Ohio, it becomes one of those situations where it's a LONG shot)

Hamilton, I think. Hamilton is currently split 51%/49% in favor of Bush with 31% of precincts reporting in.

Ohio, Ohio, Ohio.

Kerry might take Ohio.
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer
June 2001: 132,047,000 employed
June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

The majority of the absentees are Republicans. Florida is one of those states where you have to declare your party affiliation so they already know the breakup of the absentees. Florida is a lock for Bush, no one is contesting this.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard one of the talking heads say there were around 250,000 absentee ballots in Florida.

278 + 259 = 537.

But yeah, if Kerry doesn't win Ohio, it's a lost cause for him.

New Mexico and Hawaii most likely will go to Kerry based on exit polls.

IMHO, the exit polls of Florida may cash a long shadow on any exit polls in favor of Kerry. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but they were basically saying Florida was a lock for Kerry in Florida this morning (with reference to the exit polls)... the reality is it isn't turning out that way.

As said earlier, the exit polls have been horribly off, shockingly so.

I think Bush will take NM but lose Hi. According to present trends.

Doesn't look good for Kerry. If OH doesn't go his way, he's done. He has to run the Midwest and what are the chances of that?

Are you surprised?

It looks like there's still a lot of votes from urban areas in Ohio to count, so there's still hope. But if Bush wins Ohio, he wins it all... He'd just need to add Alaska to that.
