The current iPods are selling well, but of course there are always people that want something a little different. I have not seen anything on the market that looked really good, but now there is one I think. The design is not the best, but the features and the price are right.
You guys have probably seen iomega's new mp3 players. The only thing keeping me from getting one is the iTunes compatibility. I wish this player played protected AAC files.
It has the following specs:
FM stereo with 30 presets
Built-in microphone for voice recording
More than 10 hours of continuous play from its AAA battery
Backlit graphical display for viewing song titles (LCD)
Shock-resistant solid-state memory
It does lack a rechargeable battery, but that is not that big of a deal. The radio tuner is a nice addition. Maybe Apple's next generation iPods are going to have some of these extra features. I would like to listen to the radio... but have my music with me at the same time.
Anyhow... here is the link.

It's a nice price at $130 for 1 GB and $90 for 512 MB, but I don't like Iomega. Plus the lack of iTunes compatibility is a huge hurdle in my opinion.
Apple should have a LCD screen on the next shuffle. I'm not saying they will, but they should.

I would just get a shuffle. If it doesn't like iTunes, then it can stay on the shelf.

I swore off Iomega years ago. The zip drive was their one hit wonder... IMHO.

I have seen more Bernoulli drives still in use than Zip drives. Zip drive were created to fail I think.
Iomega usually seems to have it products highly over priced. Except this MP# player. I am surprised they got into the market.

Ahahahah
I still have my Zip drive. Don't use it as it's SCSI.
This was back when I worked for the DTP house. That is all we used was Zip.
I think this was around 96-97.

It held 100MB and CD-R drives weren't around. Sure beat 60+ floppy discs. I'm also a designer... and the printers picked up on it fast. It was great. I never had the click of death.
I still keep my Zip 250 drive around... you never know when someone is going to hand you a zip disc in the print industry.

Bingo... the people crying "click click click" aren't old enough to remember installing software with 20 floppy discs.

And the people who still like Iomega and defend them never had a huge project lost because their two back ups suffered the Click of Death.
I remember installing DOS before windows was even thought of. I still hate Iomega.

Oh, I hate Iomega... I'm just putting the Zip drive in historical context. It wasn't aweful IMHO considering it was the mid to late 90's. It was the best low end option (prior to CD-R). I still have some zip discs around here somewhere.

Anyway, back on topic. That Iomega MP3 player isn't an upgrade if my iPod does exactly what I want it to do... play music.
