For the first time, according to analytics firm App Annie, the Google Play store has exceeded the Apple iOS App Store in the number of downloads in a given period by about 10 percent. Apple, however, remains the undisputed leader in revenue -- with 2.3 times the money flowing in versus the Play store. The same study noted that games account for nearly 40 percent of both stores' download volume -- accounting for 70 percent of the iOS App Store's revenue, and 80 percent of Google Play's.
Top countries by revenue for the iOS App Store are the US, Japan, the UK, Australia, and China. Google Play sees Japan holding the number one position by revenue, with South Korea, the US, Germany, and the UK taking the next four spots.
App Annie Intelligenceacross 44 countries, and the market index reports on the aggregation of those 44 countries. Neither Google nor Apple report specific download numbers, or revenues from the stores -- so all figures from the study are guesses likely based on extrapolations from public announcements.

Haven't you people at MacNN learned to not print this garbage spewed from these so call analytical companies? And just like all the other recent reports all we have to do is wait a couple days for Daniel Erin Dilger to show these were once again made up statistics and likely paid for by Google, and also showing their is no such thing as journalistic standards in tech reporting. It's for sale to the highest bidder.

You did note the last sentence that the info is extrapolated, right? We're skeptical of claims as well, but you are not the only reader of the site, and we do have people who are interested in the reports.
DED doesn't work here.
