I actually agree with all the nominations which is a rare occurance with me. There is only 5 movies I have not seen and it is managable withing the next month. Although I am a little sad that Ralph Fiennes and Bill Murray have not been nominated and nothing for Broken Flowers. Still excellent choices this year, now I have to go to the video store this weekend and see what I can get from there. As for Star Wars they got tons of awards for visual effects and special effect in the past.

This is an exciting time. Very happy about nominations for MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA. Now on to the Oscar Party.

Oh - I hope March of the Penguins wins! It was great! Those penguins are tough! Anyone else see it?

we watched it this weekend, very moving, also shows the harshness of reality. My son got upset. It was recommended by friends who have a child similar age--but I guess not so sensitive.

I would put MotP up as best picture. But what kind of actor/actress is going to vote for penguins over one of their own. Hmm, might be I liked it so much just BECAUSE it didn't have any crap actors in it.

I was surprised to see The Constant Gardener did not receive more nominations. Such a moving film, and so well done. If the others that did receive nominations are better than this, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

The 5 movies nominated for best picture are great and deserve the honour.

How come Capote doesn't get the same kind of media attention? It's an excellent film with a great performance from Hoffman, from what I hear. I'm still not sure I'd watch it, since I steer clear of R-rated films for the most part. I say watch Hoffman take the Best Actor Oscar.

Many independant movies do not get lots of coverage. I saw it in Calgary at a small theatre; the type that shows non-commercial movies. So, it is not going to get the same coverage as Munich. And, Brockback Mountain got lots of coverage because of the right who hates gays; so those from the right made sure this movie would become very popular.
