Hi everyone.
A long time ago, I ventured in to a saga of trying to make use of the 2 extra SATA ports on my Early 2008 Mac Pro. This didn't go quite as planned (gory details can be found here
http://forums.macnn.com/65/mac-pro-a...-drives-early/).
However, I decided to have another crack at it recently and was more successful and have been able to get the cables in to the optical bay and have hooked up another SATA drive (will be adding another one shortly).
I have been copying large files (between 10GB and 40GB in size) to and from the "new" hard drive to test if it is working properly and it appears to be - I have been making MD5 checksums of these large files on both source and target drives and they are coming back the same so I am taking this to mean that all is well.
But I was wondering if anyone had any other - perhaps more technical - ways of checking the reliability / integrity of the extra SATA ports.
Any advice or help would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance,
Matthew
