I recently bought a macbook July 29th and I'm looking to sell it on craigslist.com and save up a little more for an iMac. I thought I'd travel around a lot more than I am right now, so the desktop would be a better buy for me.

It is the $1,099 white macbook.

It has a little tiny scratch on the screen. I accidently dropped scissors on the screen, they opened but didn't glide downwards. It just made 2 small indents on the screen. They are about the size of a pen dot each. Other than that it is in perfect working condition nothing else is flawed. Its a really good machine but I just had to drop scissors.

All MacBooks have been $1099. Give more info. Is it 2 GHz Core 2 Duo? Core Duo? 1.83 GHz? Did you add anything to it, or customize it at the order?

I would like to know if customizing increases or decreases the value.

In the motorcycle industry it often decreases. I would however pay more for a macbook that has been upgraded to say 2Gb of ram than a stock with 1Gb. I also wonder about aesthetic changes such as adding a sticker set.

I'd say you could get $850-$900 for it, but if you find a sucker, you could get as much as $950.

Apple is selling defect-free refurbs for $950, so with a chipped up screen and the slightly shortened warranty you're going to have to go south of that with a savvy buyer.

The screen isn't chipped up... its just not in perfect order. I'm looking for around $900 with this printer/scanner I bought as well.

That sounds reasonable, but do be prepared to go downwards a bit.
