Hello,
I am currently looking at buying a Power Mac and I am not sure which one to pick. I have pretty much narrowed it down to four possibilities: the stock Single 1.25 GHz G4, the Single 1.25 GHz G4 w/GeForce 4 Ti, the stock Dual 1.25 GHz G4, and the stock 1.6 GHz G5. (I would bump the machines' RAM up to 512MB). From that list, I which one would make the best gaming machine? And not only for 3D games like Elite Force, but also for games like The Sims and SimCity 4. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The G5 would probably be your best of the lot.

Hands down, get the G5. If you wait a couple days, I believe Apple is going to have a sale that will save you $200. Check for a thread concerning Apple's missposting of prices.

G5 - but if you can save for the 1.8 dual, you'll have a much better machine.

I think it's fairly certain (notice I leave a little wiggle room) that the price posting mix-up was just that - a mix-up between the Apple Store and its "Education" sibling.
If this isn't a mix-up, how do you come to the conclusion to "wait a couple days"?

If you get the G5 and plan to do some heavy gaming, consider upgrading the video card to the Radeon 9600 Pro.

G5
For Halo the _minimum_ recomendation is a 800 MHz G4,that usually means that a 1.2 GHz is better and to run really well you need a 1.6 Ghz G4. For many ported PC games the SMP is partially implemented (UT2003) or not at all so dual CPUs really do not help that much.
Getting at least the 9600 card is a good idea unless you run your games at 640x480
If you need it now buy it now otherwise wait for the rev 2 of the G4. I think we can get a speed bump sometime in Q1 2004. When and how much is anyones guess outside infintite loop.
