When I select a roll of images in iPhoto 4.0.1 and select slide show, the settings/music window opens but the transition, direction and speed function are grayed out and not available. I had a similar problem in tunes export feature but can't remember what was the cause or solution. I believe it was a third party plug-in. Anyone else experience this problem in iPhoto since the upgrade to 4.0.1 and what is the cure?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have iPhoto '04, but it is quite conceivable that your Mac doesn't have a good enough graphics card to be able to perform the various transitions available (e.g. the cube effect requires Quartz Extreme which isn't available to our Macs).

Nope. I have an iMac DV 400 with 1GB RAM and no Quartz Extreme, eah and every slideshow effect works in iPhoto and that includes the cube mosaic etc.

It's a problem with the permissions.

Check this thread for a solution.

Apologies if I'm wrong... but what you need to do is use the installer and not just drag the app you may have downloaded into you applications folder, there are more parts to iPhoto which need to be installed.

Weird - I wonder why the Fast User Switch can't use the cube effect on our Macs, then?

Yeah that is something I'd really like to see. If they can do it in iPhoto why not with the whole OS?
